All That Glitters By Ann Tai

All That Glitters

I had a coin
In my heart of hearts
I wanted you to last
From the corner of my eye
I saw your smile–a thousand suns
Rose without thorns, you were shadowless
But the closer I held you to my chest
The flowers seemed to bloom darker on my shirt
Until I was left with hands stained with chocolate
And the golden wrapper fluttered weakly in the wind
