Honeymoon Period By Maggie Palmer

                  Honeymoon Period

Rock candy-blue skies and Sprite in your beer,
Hollywood lovers could honeymoon here -
Rose-red sunsets on the water, names and hearts drawn in the sand -
A stage set for romance

If our friends didn’t think that we fit just fine,
If the leading lady didn’t have a line
And my eyes weren’t Technicolor to you, my hair not in the wind,
What would you see then?

Would you know me in jeans and fluorescent lights?
Would you hold me if my words didn’t work just right?
When you tell me that you love me when there’s nothing here but me
Maybe then I’ll believe
