Hobo to Hobo By Daril Bentley

Hobo to Hobo

Wrap your better big thoughts in your kerchief
and tie them to a stick
and shoulder them as you have done—and go.

They are not wanted in a world on the brink
of ultimate mischief.
Mark with a twig and three stones

The shanty that tenders any benevolence. Flick
your cigar ash at the fire
that warms this can of beans your bones.

The haves will at homey hearths try to think
great thoughts in manors of ire.
Those who go without will go without and know.
