Paperback Soldier By Mo Cranston

Paperback Soldier

Paperback soldier, so nice to see
He who tells a bedtime story to me
Fairy tales, fiction, and poems galore
Would you tell me one I haven’t heard before?

Paperback soldier, write me a tale
A captivating plot where the hero prevails
Maybe a poem ‘bout two lovers lost
The one with that rhyme that I haven’t forgot

Paperback soldier, make me feel like a kid
I have an abundance of stress to rid
Would you pen something to calm me down?
I’d love to get lost in your stories and sound

Paperback soldier, old friend of mine
You know how to make my imagination shine
Over the years, I’ve feared you’ve been lost
One day I’ll find you no matter the cost

Paperback soldier, where did you go?
I need you right now more than you’ll ever know
I sit in this dark room, loneliness bound
Paperback soldier, please come around
