Listening to the Dementia Channel By Lylanne Musselman

Listening to the Dementia Channel
(or A Day in the Life of Being Mom’s Caregiver)

I can’t believe the corn has tasseled already, look at it!
What’s that bird out there with the red head?
That is what you believe. It’s your truth not mine.
What day is this? It doesn’t seem like Monday.

What’s that bird out there with the red head?
What channel is the Game Show Network?
What day is this? It doesn’t seem like Monday.
Your cats won’t let me make my bed!

What channel is the Game Show Network?
It’s not rained like this all year, has it?
Your cats won’t let me make my bed!
I can too drive, give me the keys!

It’s not rained like this all year, has it?
This road rides nice for not going anywhere.
I can too drive, give me the keys!
You’re not my mom, don’t tell me what to do!

This road rides nice for not going anywhere.
Just because you believe it, it doesn’t make it true!
You’re not my mom, so don’t tell me what to do!
The corn has tasseled already, look at it, look at it!
