Haunting Synchrony By Douglas J. Lanzo

Haunting Synchrony

You dive into waters far from shore,
off glass-bottom boat,
bobbing in gentle waves,
without tether or need to moor;

Scuba-diving along the reef,
you follow a manta,
flapping gracefully
trolling regal, sun-soaked fief;

Undulating in synchronized flow,
your arms rise toward light
before, in harmony,
gradually descending down below;

Mermaid mesmerizing eyes,
you meld into ocean
riding tranquil current
as it builds tension, then sighs;

You glide forward in symphony,
each movement a liquid note
echoing through sound of surf,
haunting in your entrapped beauty.
