Two Poems By Russel Winick

Coaching Narrative

Coaches who emphasize
Character that they build
Mostly lead, I surmise,
Teams that are getting killed
The Country Craft Store

We ventured to a rural country craft store,
Admiring all the country crafts displayed,
Till learning from the labels which those crafts bore,
That China was the “country” where they’re made.

After concluding a long career as an owner and operator of a business law and litigation firm, Mr. Winick shifted to a calmer existence as a poet. Langston Hughes, Gwendolyn Brooks, Dorothy Parker, and Robert Front are among his foremost inspirations. Nearly 400 of Mr. Winick’s poems have been published in nearly a score of online and print journals.
